Once upon I time I did it with fear. Scared for my bones since everyone around me warned of the dangers of arthritis, a future of hands that turn into stone, and all other kinds of urban legends. Luckily, a man named Donald Unger decided to crack only one of his hands for SIXTY YEARS! He discovered what happens when you crack your knuckles. NOTHING. Nothing at all.

Can you imagine all the knuckle cracking I would have missed out on—for no reason!? Good thing I didn’t listen.

It makes me think of other, not-so-great, habits of mine. Like lollipops. I love lollipops. It makes me feel like that meme with Ariana Grande. I eat them while walking to whereever I’m going. Is sugar nutritious? No. Will all my teeth rot out of my head?  Maybe. But who cares. It’s like many of the centenarians say. Do what you like, just don’t do it too often. Enjoying your life is what makes you healthy, not eating raw broccoli for every meal. So remember, a little treat here and there won’t hurt. Neither will cracking every joint. As long it’s all done in moderation.

So go ahead and indulge. Eat some candy. Drink some drinks. Smoke some smokes. Bite your fingernails. Inject some doctor prescribed hormones. Do whatever it takes to enjoy every moment on this planet. Just do it responsibly. In moderation. Life is too short not to.
