I think about how many people we will need to inspire to create and do good in the world. How many Dollywoods we will need to build and how many Rocky Horror Picture shows we will need to write. It’s daunting. Who’s going to dress up as a one leg pirate and chit chat with Kermit the Frog? Who will sit in a bar and sing with him? Just the activities with Kermit the Frog alone are countless.

We have our work cut out for us and I think both Dolly and Tim would want us to continue to keep adding sparkle to the darkness. They’d want us to stand up to the negativity that sometimes grows from the Earth—like a weed—and pull it out by the roots. Not with apathy or by sticking our heads in the sand. But with force—cheerful and bubbly—while wearing a bright, pink, rhinestone jacket or black lingerie with red pumps.

Neither of them was timid. They were passionate and bold with what they believed in. They sprinted head first into the unknown with creativity and joy. And we’re going to have to do the same. Frank-N-Furter is counting on us.
