The category isssssssss BEING A BABY. I was watching an episode of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. My favorite character Titus Andromedon was having what he hoped would be his big break on live TV. Sadly, the live camera started broadcasting him without him knowing. Poor Titus, did everything from singing about his skin tags to farting on the floor. During his meltdown he said, “I want to start over! I want to be a baby!”
Of course, with his bald head, soft voice, and sweet cheeks, I instantly imagined him as a baby. After guffawing for about a half-an-hour I thought about it.
What if I could start over? If I could be a baby, right now, would I? Maybe, if I chose a caretaker to raise me through the 2030s, I could have the life I’ve always dreamed of.
I imagined waking up as a baby and realized—the only difference between that reality and the one I woke up to—is the age of my body and the bits of knowledge I’ve acquired over the decades. If I was a baby, I’d just acquire similar knowledge over the 2030s, 40s, and so on with different—but probably equal—trauma.
Why not be a baby right now? Instead of a bottle of fresh breast milk, I’ll have an oat milk flat white with a dash of cinnamon. Why not start over today? In the morning, the new day begins the journey into a future authored by my decisions. Whether I like it or not, I’m starting over anyway. Why not do it consciously. With GUSTO and intention.
Today’s the day! Today, I begin my journey towards living with intention. I hope you will too.
